Lake Thun

After the drive over the Schallenberg and along the turquoise Lake Thun, Caique and Daniel reach their destination: the Deltapark Vitalresort. Set between lake and mountains, embedded in 70,000 square metres of parkland, a different mode begins here.

Right on the water, in the heart of the Kander delta, alpine expanse meets carefully considered architecture. Nature and design, quiet and activity, power and pleasure — rarely do opposites flow into one another as harmoniously as they do here.

Caique and Daniel check in, leave the key behind and dive in: into the outdoor freshwater pool with its view across the landscape. Into the sauna overlooking the lake. Into the quiet room, which fully lives up to its name. Anyone who wants to can find new energy in the gym with its state-of-the-art equipment or at a guided morning movement session by the lakeshore — anyone who does not simply stays lying down.

In the evening comes the leap from mountain air into the flavours of Southeast Asia: the hotel’s own restaurant, Deltaverde Thai Cuisine, serves authentic dishes with fresh herbs, coconut milk and chilli. Outside the lake and the mountains — inside it smells of lemongrass, coriander and fried rice.

For Caique, who loves prawns, it is a culinary feast: dumplings, fried prawns with vegetables, deep-fried prawns with basil — accompanied by fragrant jasmine rice. Daniel meanwhile goes for the green Thai curry with chicken. The day winds down in a mixture of stillness, spice and a comfortable tiredness.
