Villa Sassa is an oasis with glorious views of the lake, Lugano and the surrounding mountains. DISPLAY paid a visit.

Our stay at Villa Sassa, nestled in the picturesque hills above the Gulf of Lugano, was an unforgettable experience. The historic villa was built in the early 19th century. Together with the surrounding nature and the breathtaking panoramic view, the villa immediately won the hearts of my friend Jennifer and me.

Our days began and ended in one of the generously designed rooms, whose windows flooded the space with light and always gave us a view of the beauty of the surroundings. It’s the kind of place where you’d like to stay longer.

Wellness and relaxation

The 3000-square-metre wellness area was our oasis. Between the heated outdoor pool with its glorious panoramic view and the extensive spa offering, we could really let go. On the second day, we enjoyed a personalised massage and a steam treatment from the “Vitaldetox programme”, which did wonders for relieving pain. Highly recommended – the perfect start to the day.

The culinary offering at the restaurant “Ai Giardini di Sassa” was a revelation, especially for me with my coeliac disease and for my vegetarian friend too. The attentive service made every meal a pleasure. The Bistrot & Bar Sassa was tailor-made for us as well. So in the evening, we could enjoy the panoramic view from the balcony with drinks and food.

What made our stay special was the warm atmosphere. We felt welcome here. This openness and acceptance from the staff, combined with the charm of the villa, made our time a highlight.

The DOT-Licious Shop

One highlight of our stay was our visit to the DOT-Licious Shop. Here we found not only gluten-free but also lactose-free, ketogenic and sugar-free delicacies. Healthy eating can be really delicious! Our encounters with head chef Davide Venturini and the inspiring founder Cristina Cavazza, who gave us deep insights into their personal health journeys, broadened our understanding of a mindful way of life enormously.

At Villa Sassa, we experienced more than just a romantic retreat – it was an all-encompassing experience that nourished body, mind and soul and sent us back to everyday life inspired. A magical place that impresses not only with its location but also with its commitment to well-being and inclusivity – gay couples are, as a matter of course, warmly welcome here.
