«The Most Beautiful Story About Love» nimmt die wohl bekannteste Liebesgeschichte der Weltliteratur – Romeo und Julia – und stellt ihr eine einfache, unbequeme Frage: Ist das wirklich Liebe? Oder nur die Sehnsucht danach?
In diesem Kabarettstück führt die Zürcher Drag Queen und Theaterkünstlerin Eternal Damnation als Master of the Ceremony durch eine Version der Geschichte, die gleichzeitig komisch, ehrlich und schmerzhaft vertraut ist. Zwischen Shakespeares Versen und zeitgenössischen Liebeskatastrophen – von Grindr bis zum Balkon – entfaltet sich ein Abend, der das Publikum zum Lachen bringt, bevor es merkt, dass es eigentlich weinen müsste.
ÜBER DIE KÜNSTLERINNEN
Camilla Liutyi ist Autorin und Schöpferin des Stücks. Ihre Drag Ater-Ego, Eternal Damnation – bekannt aus der Zürcher Queer- und Drag-Szene – übernimmt die Hauptrolle der Master of the Ceremony. Die gebürtige Ukrainerin kam Anfang 2022 in die Schweiz und ist seither eine feste Grösse in der lokalen Szene: als Performerin bei Zurich Pride, St. Gallen Pride und Zug Pride, als Teilnehmerin der «Heaven Drag Race», als Produzentin und Gastgeberin ihrer eigenen Queer-Varietéshow «Eternal Queeriety» sowie als Stand-up-Comedian. Sie war bereits mehrfach in Millers zu erleben.
Die Musik stammt von Moritz Lieberherr, der das Stück live begleitet.

A cabaret musical inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet

You know how it ends. You’ve always known. They meet, they fall in love, they die. Shakespeare made sure of that four hundred years ago, and no amount of wishing has changed it since.

So why are you still reading this?

The Most Beautiful Story About Love is a comedy — a sharp, ridiculous, frequently unhinged cabaret deconstruction of the most famous love story ever written. Performed by a cast of three, scored for live piano, and hosted by a drag queen who has very strong opinions about love and would prefer not to have them.

Juliet Capulet (Angèle Cavin) is thirteen, romantic, and being sold to a bald man with a gentle soul. Romeo Montague (Max Grosse Majench) is sixteen and perpetually lovesick. Together, they do exactly what every generation since the Globe Theatre has done before them: fall headlong into the most… let’s say, “beautiful” mistake of their lives.

Standing between them and the audience — cigarette in hand, wine half-finished — is the Master of the Ceremony. Think the Emcee from Cabaret crossed with Fleabag: someone who hosts the tragedy with a dazzling grin, makes the whole room laugh, and is clearly not okay. Outrageously funny, impossible to look away from, and carrying about fifteen years’ worth of unprocessed feelings about romance that she will absolutely be sharing with the room tonight. Because if we’re going to watch two teenagers destroy themselves over a love story the whole world already knows by heart, someone needs to be there to ask the uncomfortable question: why do we keep telling it?

Played by Eternal Damnation, Zurich-based drag queen who has performed at Drag Fest Switzerland, Zurich Pride, and The Millers’ very own “Madame Phishères Boudoir Bizzarre” — she knows exactly how this ends, has been through something like it herself, and is going to tell you about it whether you asked or not.

The result is a show that makes you laugh first and think later — and occasionally both at the same time. It takes Shakespeare’s most iconic tragedy and asks what happens when you strip away the poetry and look at what’s underneath: two lonely people, a city full of inherited hatred, and a love story so embedded in our culture that we’ve stopped questioning whether it’s actually a love story at all.
It’s funny until it isn’t. It’s devastating until it’s funny again. The songs will get stuck in your head; the MC’s monologues might get stuck somewhere else.

The Most Beautiful Story About Love premieres at Millers, Zurich, on 28 May 2026.
